I decided to give SearchScene a try after hearing about its ethical credentials and I'm glad that I did!
The wallpapers offer a pleasant introduction to the search and it has quite a lot of flexible features that allow you to change the appearance and the way that it works.
I read that they give away 95% of their profits to charity, which is a huge bonus, and makes them one of the most generous charitable search engines out there. Maybe it would be good to see them bringing in more charities to support as time goes on.
There is a browser extension too, which I have added to Firefox. This works very well, making Searchscene the default browser page and search engine.
For my purposes the search overall gives just as good an experience as Google so I think I'll stick with it.
In summary, I would recommend SearchScene to a friend.
